Q: In order to put the new cans in the back of the old cans I have to take the older cans out?

Yes, you need to remove older cans to place new behind it. There are bars across the back that keep cans from being pushed out backwards. It hasn't been a problem for me though, there is usually only one can there when I buy new ones.

Q: What are the true dimensions of this? I see some reviewers who said the stated dimensions were incorrect.

Mine is 13.5"h x 13" d x 17"w. Hope that is helpful. There are three shelves with dividers.

We have this can organizer and have it fully stocked in a large cupboard in our 5th wheel trailer. We have never had a problem with cans falling out or it moving around in the least. We travel rough mountain roads, which we go slow over, for 2 years we have never had an issue. I think keeping it fully stocked has helped keep it steadier. Although I may try some zip ties to maybe secure it so it doesn't loosen up, after 2 years it's done us proud, I have been very happy with my SimpleHouseware Stackable Can Rack. I did not get a second rack to stack them just bought the one. Now I am buying another for my house. The thing I like most is how easy it is to adjust for larger or smaller cans, just takes a couple seconds and that's it, the other styles you have to put it together that way and then if you want to change it you have to take it apart. This one can be changed daily if you want, it takes seconds to do it. Hope this helps some of you make up your mind.

I have cans like soup, beans, peas, and even full jars of mayonnaise in the racks.
