So far it's good, no complaints!
I bought this to replace my trusty Canon 430exII which suddenly shorted out and overheated after over 10 years of reliable flash use. Despite the Godox being much larger and thus more difficult to find a space in my bag to house it, I am appreciating it's power and flexibility. I'm not sure the round head makes a big difference in the "look" associated from an on camera flash yet as I have not used if for anything but macro photography, and one shot at full power in the dark to get a photo of a screech owl. But so far it does seem to be "better" than the rectangular hot spots that can result from the "normal" on camera flash shape. I also appreciate the modeling light very much. I have found that to be quite handy when trying to get photos of insects/spiders/etc. in the dark! I wasn't sure the rechargeable battery would be an advantage, but so far it's holding up very well, but I have not pushed it so far that I have discharged to the point of needing an immediate recharge yet.

Fantastic flash
This flash uses a round flash head. Similar to the Pro Photo version. Which costs around 800-1000. This version of godox is suppose to create a softer flash pattern. It's a very powerful light source. The total output is 76w/s so it's putting out a nice amount of light. The rechargeable lithium Ion battery pack lasts incredibly long. 500 shots at full power. It used a 2.4ghz wireless system and can work in conjunction with other godox flashes. I use it with the godox x pro-s transmitter up to 100 meters in distance. They now use a locking mechanism on the hot shoe of my camera which I feel is much more secure than turning the dial to tighten the flash. I like to modify my/with a large soft box, a grid, or umbrella depending on the location I’m shooting. It also works really well when bouncing/off of the ceiling and walls creating a nice soft affect on my subjects. The head swivels and rotates backwards A few degrees which is really nice given that the other models do not do this the same way. TTL seems to be more spot on when getting consistent skin tones from your subject. Overall I would recommend this flash. It is high-quality and only a fraction of the cost when compared to pro photos version. It has a lot to offer and I will definitely be using it on my future gigs. I think I would ask does a really good job making high-quality products at an affordable price.

Love! Works great!
Been using for over a year and it’s been fun learning and a lifesaver in a lot of instances! I use ttl mode mainly and it’s great for wedding receptions of creative photography.

The best in market
If you see someone using this you know they did a research and it’s a professional, flash quality is amazing, build quality is good but I wish the horse shoe was metal. But the power is amazing, I have two in my case

Cheap parts… These flashes don’t last!
Out of the box, this was a great flash. A few months later, the plastic hot shoe broke… Why they use plastic is beyond me! Two years after that the capacitor went out (under normal working conditions) and I can’t find anyone to repair the flash other than one place that charges 90% of what a new one would cost. Out of all of the flashes that I’ve owned this is by far the least reliable flash made with low quality parts

Amazing place to start!
The Godox ecosystem is a an amazing thing for photographers and this flash is the start. The cost of the flash is very low for the versatile of the product. I have been able to use this to get perfect lighting in low light ceremonies and events. The amount of uses for the device is incredible, from using at events, to product photography and even sports and can’t recommend an other starter flash.

Works flawlessly
I have been using Profoto A1 (Canon) flashes since they were introduced. I have wanted similar flashes for my other gear, including Sony and Fuji. This V1S is my second v1, the first was for Canon, as I wanted to compare Profoto and Good units. Their output is indistinguishable. I've been waiting for quite some time for a Sony round head flash and grabbed this one when it was recently released. I used it last weekend to shoot about 400 images across several related Saturday AM events (mostly outdoors) and found it easy to use (with a Sony A7R3), easy to switch from TTL to manual and great for balancing ambient and flash in challenging lighting (dappled sun light from trees). I had no overheating issues, (but did not engage high speed sync--which is what most likely would trigger overheating) and the battery seems to go on forever. My only criticism is that the Profoto A1 has a far better interface and is even simpler to use than the V1, but the Profoto costs 3x Godox's price (for the old A1) and 4x the price (if buying Profoto's new A1x.) I've been quite pleased with the Godox V1 and have just ordered the Fuji version. Highly recommended.
