Always sad seeing a lot of good engineering work by the ...
Five stars for the switches but zero for the documentation: As someone else pointed out, the instructions are neither complete nor accurate, resulting in frustration in what should be a straight forward installation.1. I connected the locator light to 1-pole and 3-way, and it works. But someone else pointed out a different wiring, using the hot connection. I'm not sure what to think about it.2. You MUST insert the switch into the metal receptacle, and then connect the green wire into your ground. I didn't as I was simply trying the switch first, and nothing worked. So again, make sure to insert the switch and connect the ground. I guess the electronic inside the switch checks for those before enabling itself.3. Once you enable (turn on) your breaker after the installation, because I'm sure you turn it off before playing with the wires :) just wait for 20 seconds or so. The switch is "self initialization" and pressing the button/dimmer won't do anything until the sequence is complete. My guess is that the electronic of the switch is measuring the load (incandescence, led, cfl, etc.) and once complete, it becomes operational. At first, I would turn on the breaker, press the switch right away, and it didn't work. Give it some time to initialize.4. The screws to attach the plate to the connection plate are 22 mm long (3/4"), so plan accordingly with longer screws if your connection box is not flushed with the wall.Always sad seeing a lot of good engineering work by the Legrand development team being a bit ruin by the documentation. On another note, here is a possible wiring description I used successfully. The key point is to connect the dimmer HOT to the light:- Box A: For the switch, with 120V available and a 3-wire cable to box B (red, white, black).- Box B: For the dimmer, with the same 3-wire cable from box A, and the cable (white, black) to the light.- Box A: 120V black/hot to switch H. 120V white/neutral to 3-wire white. Red to switch 3W. Black to switch 1P.- Box B: Red to dimmer 3W. Black to dimmer 1P. 3-wire white to dimmer W. Black light to dimmer HOT. White light to 3-wire white.Legal disclaimer: I assume no responsibilities in whatever I wrote above, this is just for information.

Hard work but looks good
Although it has a loud relay-like noise when actuated it senses a light touch pretty well. The light works between the one pole and 3 pole. The fit is pretty tight and you have to clean the box pretty good before it can be pushed in until it clicks.( I ended up pushing the sides with a 1 by 1 wood piece.) The receiving plate needs a good ground or it won't turn of the lights. Overall nice looks but so you know the cover extends about 1/2 in from the surface.

A good switch, but also some learning opportunities...
An outstanding wall switch to replace the standard toggle switch.Once the wiring in the switch box is cleaned up to provide the space necessary to install the switch, it is quite easy to install this switch. A couple of notes from my learnings:1) The switch must be seated in the metal wall plate (which must be grounded) in order for the switch to work correctly.2) The indicator light which comes with the switch should be wired between the line hot (black screw) and either 1-pole or 3-pole terminal. The instructions indicate it should be wired between the 1-pole and 3-pole terminals, but Legrand technical support told me that is not correct.3) Evidently, because of indicator light, there is a small amount of current that "bleeds" to the 1-pole and 3-pole terminals. If a Fluke Voltage Tester is held to the terminals when the switch's breaker is on but the switch is off, it will light. This may lead one to believe the switch is defective. However, it is not enough power to energize a light bulb.

locator light should be integrated
overall, i like the lagrand adorne line. they look good and feel solid. installation can be tricky, especially in multiple-gang applications due to the product's size. my main gripe with the softtap and touch switches is that the locator light is not integrated into the unit like with the dimmer switches. basically, you get a separate led light that plugs into the back of the unit and you have to wire it into the same leads as power. this makes an already tight installation even tighter. i can understand not having the locator integrated into the $5 rocker switch but think it should absolutely be integrated into any switch that retails for around $40.

Didn't Work
First off I am not a certified electrician, just a homeowner trying to save money by doing it myself. I have rewired switches and outlets and installed new light fixtures several times before so I have a good idea on how to do my own basic wiring. I liked the aesthetics of these switches as they look sleek and modern. I was under the impression that you had to just barely tap the switch to make the lights work but the switch actually functions by pushing in on the switch until it clicks and then releasing it and it pops back out. Second, the switches didn't even work for me. I wired the switch exactly according to instructions and also the instructional video. The ceiling fan and light came on but you couldn't turn them off using the switch. The switch I replaced it with was the run of the mill flip switch that had two wires (Brown & White) connected to it. Apparently there wasn't a ground wire inside my junction box so the switch will not work for me. I called Legrand Technical Support and the associate I spoke with was somewhat rude. I will need to hire an electrician to rewire my house in order to make this switch work which I probably will not do. I will just by a different switch that works with my two wire system.

Don’t listen to the nay-sayers
I am not an electrical contractor, yet had no issue installing these in my home solo, by myself with just 2 hands. Sounds like these electrician reviewers are not very good at their jobs :) Anyway, the switches look very unique, and are likely to grab your guest’s attention. They do a good job, and I like the indicator light for a unique touch. Only downside is that they are overpriced, but if you want a one in a kind look, then look no further.
