Platinum Instant Sourdough Yeast - 10 packets

This sourdough yeast makes the perfect loaf of bread every time. Look online to find the recipe. So easy to mix together, short periods of time for rising and the taste is amazing. Sure beats paying for bread in the store. Does take a commitment of a whole day for rising !

I purchased 10 more because it tasted so good. It didn’t taste of sourdough but it gave my bread depth of flavor which is impossible making homemade bread without a sourdough starter which I haven’t been able to grow on my own.

These are more yeast than bacteria and actually close to instant yeast.. Makes great bread, but not the "real" sourdough taste. Taste does develop after a day or two, if it lasts that long. Even then not true sourdough taste and more yeast than bacteria which is another reason people buy to reduce yeast load.

We enjoy homemade sourdough bread, but I have hits and misses trying to make it, so I thought I'd try this. It rises beautifully and bakes a crusty loaf, but calling it a sourdough yeast is a bit of a stretch.

I ONLY use Red Star yeasts as they are the MOST reliable in a recipe. I love sourdough, but having a starter and keeping it healthy isn't easy. Here, they yeast gives ANY bread recipe a sourdough flavor! The important thing to note is that this is meant for regular bread recipes - NOT actual sourdough recipes! - so that you use it correctly for the best results. When it is used correctly, the results in the breads are wonderful!This is a great new product where I can enjoy sourdough bread easily! Do not buy this type of yeast if you are hoping for a sourdough tasting bread; this yeast will not give it to you. This sourdough yeast is made with RYE flour, which turns your bread into a sort of rye tasting loaf. To me it's not a good tasting bread. Regarding the Seller: I give them 5 Stars. I have to be honest. There is no way I'm going to create and constantly feed a sourdough starter. It just seems like way too much work and hassle to me. But I LOVE the taste of a good, fresh sourdough loaf. So I was ecstatic when I tried Platinum Sourdough Yeast. My homemade loaf had that unmistakable tang of a sourdough loaf from a bakery. The taste is subtle, but so worth it. Plus it's easy. Just open the packet and use it like you would any other instant yeast when you're baking. I'm hooked.
