Bought 2 usual IT pain to get going but glad I did!
Bought two for piece of mind due to a weird family member and rising crime rate in the area. They can be adjusted for sensitivity and although indoor cameras, they can see clearly out the window so I can see who is at the door... And of course how the pets are doing when they are on their own.Set up is NOT easy as the use of pictures and minimal language to sell to most markets resulting in confusion but patience prevailed and although the first one took an hour and a bit to figure out... The second took less than half an hour.Setting up blank zones (so the TV didn't activate motion detection) and all the other bits took another few minutes but oh my word these were a great purchase.

Camera ok, app makes it hugely inconvenient
First, the positives: Camera itself seems well enough made, field of view adequate, will tilt up a long way but not down very much meaning that you can’t place it on a high shelf and point it downward. Power cable seems a decent length (unlike the Ring camera whose cable is about 3 inches long). Picture quality ok, night vision pretty good, detection works well, not too many false alerts. Now the negatives: not super easy to set up, the QR code that you need to scan is too small for my phone to read plus, for some weird reason, the app fires up the front-facing camera with no option to switch to the rear. Ended up having to set it up manually, which leads me on to the next point: the app is diabolical, truly bad and not at all thought-out. You can set up a monitoring schedule as with most cameras like this, but there is NO option to set the camera to an adhoc monitor should you, for example, pop out for the evening. Instead you have to go into the app, find the camera settings, find the monitoring schedule page (called ‘Arm schedule’ by Yale), and add a new monitoring start and stop time for the time that you think you’ll be out. This schedule will then turn on monitoring on the same day at the same time until you remember to delete it. Add to the fact that this process needs you to remember to press the almost invisible ‘Save’ button to register the change, ‘cos if you don’t the app won’t remind you it will just forget the new schedule.Such a shame a simple operation has to be made so cumbersome

Works great but unintuitive setup
The product is excellent, great picture quality, motion detection works fine. However, as other reviewers have noted, the phone app seems to have been made by a distracted 5 year old. The iPhone app at any rate.My particular nemesis was the screen that asks for a device password during setup (not all purchasers seem to get this <shrug>). If you do, gentle reader, do not drive your insane trying to locate aforementioned password on the camera, the (useless) manual or the box it came in. Also ignore the app's advice to first set this password in Settings. Those are filthy lies. Instead go to Me -> Tool -> LAN Live, give the app access to local network if needed, then hit Search on the next screen. If your camera has managed to connect to Wi-Fi, it will show up here and you finally get to set its password yourself. Tears of joy were shed. Then go through the device addition process again and provide the password you just set up.It took me a frustrating hour figuring this out. Hope this helps other lost souls.

Good Features, Tricky Setup, and Some Design Flaws
Setup & Instructions:Setting up the Yale SV-DPFX-B Indoor Wi-Fi Camera was far more difficult than I expected. The instructions provided are quite poor and not very clear, which made the process frustrating from the start. It actually took me around 6 hours to get the camera connected to my Wi-Fi network. The app isn’t intuitive either, and I kept running into errors. Eventually, I discovered that disconnecting all VPNs from my phone and making sure my Wi-Fi was set to 2.4GHz (not 5GHz) made a big difference. Once I followed these steps, the setup finally worked, but it took a lot of trial and error to get there.Packaging & Condition:On a positive note, the packaging was good. The camera arrived well protected, sealed, and clearly brand new. Everything inside the box looked genuine and untouched, which gave me confidence that I was receiving a quality product.Design & Mounting:The camera itself looks modern and is reasonably compact, but when mounted on the ceiling, it feels flimsy and not very secure. Another issue is the USB power cable: it’s short and black, which stands out and looks untidy when running across a white ceiling. This is a disappointing oversight for a product designed to be mounted up high. The camera does not need to be mounted and equally looks great on a flat surface.Features & Performance:The pan and tilt functions work as advertised, but the camera movement is slow, so it takes a while to adjust the view remotely. The HD video quality is good, and the motion detection is very sensitive, picking up even small movements. Two-way talk and privacy mode are useful features. You can add a 256gb memory card to the card to record images and videosApp & Usability:The Yale View app allows you to view live footage, talk through the camera, and adjust settings, but it is not very user-friendly and could use improvement. Navigating the menus and finding the right options isn’t as straightforward as it should be.Pros:- Good HD video quality- Pan and tilt for flexible coverage- Motion detection and instant alerts- Two-way talk and privacy mode- Packaging was good, item was genuine, new, and sealedCons:- Poor instructions make setup confusing- Took me 6 hours to connect due to Wi-Fi and app issues- Difficult Wi-Fi setup unless you disconnect VPNs and use 2.4GHz- Feels flimsy on the ceiling mount- Camera movement is slow- Short, black USB cable looks untidy on ceilings- App is not very intuitiveOverall:The Yale SV-DPFX-B Indoor Wi-Fi Camera offers solid video quality and useful features like two-way talk and motion detection, but the setup process is let down by poor instructions and app design. It took me 6 hours to get it connected, which was extremely frustrating. On the plus side, the packaging was good, and the camera arrived sealed and genuinely new. The camera feels insecure when ceiling mounted, and the short, black USB cable is unsightly for ceiling installations. If you’re willing to spend extra time on setup and can overlook some design flaws, it does the job-but there’s definite room for improvement.
