This is the third wine aerator I've owned in the past two years, [most likely due to a divorce a) wife kept the original b) drinking more wine because of said divorce] — The other two, for comparison sake, are/were the original vinturi-style aerator, which is just a bit smaller in size but similar in outward appearance/style, but functions differently, and the other is a rabbit aerator that actually fits into the mouth of the bottle.As far as doing it's job — i.e. injecting air into the wine, I think they all do a better/faster job than just pouring a bottle into a decaton and looking at your watch. I would say that of the three, this one would probably tie with the venture style aerator and the rabbit would come in behind them both. I'm not an expert in fluid dynamics, but you can see (and hear) that this thing is doing it's job.It's priced competitively as well and looks sharp.The only reason I knocked a star off, is that part of the mechanism is a small, thin wheel-shaped piece of acrylic that sits on top of a thin vertical cylinder that rises up through the center of the aerator. This small piece is removable, presumably to make cleaning easier. However it seems like the weakest and most delicate link in an otherwise very sturdy aerator.It also seems like something that could easily get lost and it seems to be key to the proper functioning of the aerator. I guess time will tell. I'd just advise you to be careful with this particular component.I have received this product at a discounted price to provide an honest and helpful review, which I've done without bias. It was my choice to purchase it, and I'm glad that I did. I'm giving the rabbit aerator away, and keeping this one, and the ex can keep the older venturi.

Easy to use and clean

I purchased both the Classic Fountain Aerator and the Deluxe Classic Angel Wine Aerator. I think these aerators are absolutely excellent. Before I elaborate, I should start with a couple of disclaimers. #1 - I am not an oenophile by any means! I almost exclusively drink very, VERY inexpensive red wine (cabernet mostly). #2 - I received these products at a discount in exchange for my honest review. With that being said, I do really like these aerators. As other reviewers have mentioned, both of these aerators comes very nicely packaged and would make excellent gifts for any wine drinkers you might know. Both the classic aerator and the angel aerator are very attractive in my opinion. Personally, I like the overall appearance of the angel style slightly more, but prefer the stand that comes with the classic aerator. Both come with a velvet-like case that you can use to store the aerator when not in use or to take it on the go. Personally, I think the aerators are quite attractive in their stands, and will probably be used often enough that I'll just leave them sitting out in their stands. Now, to address the most important factor... yes, they definitely do work. For anyone still wondering if an aerator actually improves the taste of the wine or if it is simply the power of suggestion making you think that it does... I have already tested that theory. These particular aerators are not the first ones I have ever used. I first purchased an aerator for a friend of mine a couple of years ago. We experimented quite a bit with various blind taste tests and picked the aerated wine right every time. If you have never used an aerator before, I definitely recommend trying one and I am confident when I say that you will notice a difference. As I said, I am no expert on wine (see disclaimer #1), but I can certainly tell that an aerator actually does improve the taste of the wine (even my super-cheap wine) and there is a nicer finish without the harsh aftertaste. As for these specific aerators, they both appear to work at least as well as any I have used before. I haven't done an actual side-by-side comparison with any other aerator, but from what I can tell, these are both effective little gizmos. I have never used an aerator with the mesh filter that the angel style has, but I didn't notice much difference in taste between these two. Apparently it will trap sediment, but that's an issue well beyond my concerns when I'm drinking wine. So, I can't really say either one is any better than any other one I've used... anymore that I can say one wine is better than another (again... see disclaimer #1). I can confidently say these aerators both look very nice, seem to work well, and were a good value (see disclaimer #2). Overall, I rate either one very highly.
