Excellent audio before you slip into the professional grade coat range.

So I’m still relatively inexperienced with audio but the sound quality is incredible. This seems to be the upper limit of spending for microphones before you break into the professional grade of microphones spanning into the 1000$ plus range. The broadcaster as its name implies really brings out the subtle tones in voice work that makes it fantastic for podcast, voice over, and video work. I wouldn’t recommend getting something in this tier if you don’t intend to use it for professional and semi professional means. You will notice little difference between something like an audio technica 2020 and this for VoIP applications due to audio compression used by discord, Skype, etc. but it will be a world of difference in the correct applications though. You will need a good preamp to get the most out of it with 48 volt phantom power. I had paired it with an audient ID4 that has solid preamps and good levels of gain. The build quality is solid and I would highly recommend this for anyone in need of semi professional and professional level audio.

Best ever

This is the perfect mic. Only one caveat--it is really heavy and if you buy the $100 Rode scissor stand, its great. If you try the $10 cheapies, you will then end up buying the other one anyway, so just save yourself some hassle and get the good one first. Also, it does require phantom power, so keep that in mind when figuring out what to connect it to. The Blue Icicle is a good choice to connect directly to a computer by USB--but if you do this, be prepared to read the review section for tips to make the thing work with windows, because installing the driver is not straightforward.I love this mic, though. It has a built in plosive resistance device and low-pass all but eliminates background noise. This is the best mic I've ever used to eliminate background noise, in fact. Its amazing. If you spend a grand, you might get an AKG with very slightly better treble, but those are noise magnets that are completely impractical outside a soundproofed room. One thing I recommend is that you don't assume the worst if the plosives seem overwhelming regardless of how far your mouth is from the mic. All you have to do is speak into it diagnally, and the plosives are gone with no degradation in sound quality--and its actually better that way because it puts it out of your face a bit.I use it for everything voicewise--even skype. I can't say enough good about it. In fact, its actually completely changed my perspective of my own voice.

Great For Pod casting

A solid little work horse of a mic suitable for many applications including broadcasting and voice over. The LED "on air" lite is really handy when you use several different mics into a mixer that allows you to know when the phantom power is working. This mic is mostly used for broadcasting applications and I know of one voice talent that uses it exclusively for voice overs.Although I prefer the Neumann TLM 103 for voice over work, this is my mic of choice for podcasts and general studio applications. There is a built in pop stopper in the form of insulation padding inside the grill so you don't really need a pop stopper if you angle it slightly at about 6-8 inches from the source (your lips) which allows more sight room for scripts and so forth.I bought this over a year ago and cannot find a single issue with it whatsoever.Ruggedly built, comes with a vinyl zipper pouch that you can easily zip over it while it remains on the stand if you don't want to unscrew it between use--a solid performer from a company that understands quality in sound devices--HUGE UPS on this product--I love my Rode!----------------------------------------UPDATE: Well here it is in 2016 and this monster is still rocking without a glitch. I use it almost daily.

Very disappointed it's sale with any cable

I'm very disappointed I received the microphone without any cable, now I have to ask for help because I can use the microphone .I contacted RODE on the internet, they sent me a message and told me to buy an interface/mixer and it's sale with a cable to connect the mixer to my computer, but he did not tell me what cable I needed to connect the microphone to the interface/mixer . on the picture they ask me to send it show that I have any cable to connect the microphone. I just sent another message and ask what cable I need to buy for the microphone. I'm disappointed. I want to send back the product but I already buy the arm to support the microphone . .very disappointed

The one I've been waiting for

I've acquired many mics for music, streaming, podcasting etc. I have the wonderful SM7B, among others. When I stream, I've been looking for "That" sound. The SM7B is wonderful, but I was looking to be different, as well as a different sound. Used the RE320, loved it. RE27ND, disappointed. Heil PR40. Also loved it. However, not quite what I wanted. I wanted something plug and play. Condensers sound amazing, but I wanted an end address.Enter the broadcaster. Its perfect, and exactly what I was looking for. It has that sound, the look, and most importantly is end address. Just what I wanted for my streams, and podcast. Buy it today! Or see it in action, RadJ1191
