Purina Tidy Cats Non Clumping Cat Litter, Instant Action Low Tracking Cat Litter - 30 lb. Bag

Q: Why is it so much more expensive to buy the 4 pack of 10 lb bags. The list price for this is $35.60, which would come out to $8.90 a bag?

Amazon is price gouging now and they are going to drive away customers. I was buying this faithfully 4 10 pound bags for $13.68 as of my last delivery June 25th. Now they are charging $32 for this cat litter. Really Amazon?? At Walmart I buy Fresh Step non clumping 1 14 pound bag for $6.48. That fills 2 cat boxes and last for seven days. That's $24 a month guess which one I won't be buying until they change the price back. 1 10 pound bag does not fill 2 cat boxes.

Q: What is the difference between the "instant action" and the "24/7" formulas?

My experience is that while instant action does keep poop from smelling right away, or wears off and later the box will smell (so you have to scoop it soon after the cat poops). But, in my experience, the 24/7 kind (read bag) is rather the opposite: it will stink when the cat first goes, but then the smell goes away and starts away, leaving you the option of scooping when you wish to. I guess the 24/7 kind takes some time to kick in. I will note, that while urine doesn't sink at first for either, after a couple of weeks or so, it will smell like ammonia, for both kinds. That's when you know it's time to change out the entire box.

Q: Why did it go up so much?

I guess because most people prefer clumping litter, it costs more to produce non clomping due to economies of scale.
