Magic Jack!

This pair of Jack worked magic and fixed my bouncing floor in 10 minutes. This is a strong Jack to be used as a secondary jack for high load areas. I intend to order a few more and put them below the floor where referigerator is installed. Very easy to setup. Instructions are included in package however not needed, as it is self explanatory once you take a look at the contents in the package.

Don't use it as a true post! Perfect *cheap* screw Jack

This is not beefy or robust. This is ~25/ea, insanely cheap.Treat it as such, and it's great! This is magnitudes above the ability of those cheap "shed support post" type jacks. This one is clearly similar to a temporary lolly column.I would not however use it as such, because it's still a little wimpy. The screws looks like they will hold, but I'm not certain what the limits are.I'm using two of them in some ways to pressure something before I strengthen it, basically to prevent reinforcing something in the weakened direction.I used two of them as well for fixing some crooked joists and adding hangers.Again: well prices almost-sufficient-grade temporary lolly column.

Could be better, but can be made to work well.

These floor jacks can carry a full 18,000 lb load as long as they are not extended past 15 inches high. You can get another 3" but they will not carry full weight. Might be ok for lifting a sagging floor, but you need the full capacity if there is a wall above your lifting point. The comments about the flimsy base plates are correct. At anything like full load, the plate into which the screw fits collapses until it touches the surface it is lifting. This can be easily stopped by placing 2 each 1/2 in. washers in the dimple so that they carry the weight instead of the plate. When the load compresses the plate, the washers hit first. If the washers dig into the beam a bit, then the load spreads out to the rest of the plate. Works fine, and requires no machining. The fact that the parts are not welded together does make it hard to assemble this jack in tight spaces. I found that I could hold things together with masking tape long enough to get everything in place. Once there is even a slight load, everything stays where it belongs just fine.Be sure to wipe off the screw and nut and make sure the threads run smoothly before you try to use this jack. There was dirt and metal filings on mine that tended to jam the screw. Be sure the tip of the screw which carries the load is clean and smooth. I had to remove some burrs and dirt to get a smooth bearing surface. After everything is clean and turning smoothly, grease the threads and the bearing surface. Otherwise it will be very hard to lift anything close to the rated load. So, a little more care at the factory, and a proper top plate, and this would be an excellent product. It could be further improved by providing a second set of flats for the wrench at 90 degrees to the first set. With only one set, in tight places, you have to use a small pipe wrench to turn the jack screw.

Geat product, it was easy to use, I was able to raised the support beam about 2", there was a gap in each corner and it sag in the middle. When ever you used to walk ups theres there was this kind of bounciness to it, and now my floor is sturdy, no more sqwicks, and my home is safe to live in. the plates in the kit are 6x4, when you boy your wood ether 2x4 or 4x4 they are actually around 3 1/2 so the plates stick out, make sure your placement for the support is correct, and ensure you use a level front, back and side to side, also if you are using 4x4s make sure they are straight, some times they come warp. another thing to remember if you cam NOT change a lightbulb, dont try to do this. I did a bunch of research, and had a few professional come to the house before I got started, do your research, I was able to safe over 10k, and so far i only spend about 300 on material, is been 4 days and I'm ready for drywall tomorrow morning, . be safe everyone.

Good quality, poor design

The materials are good quality, but the design is a bad idea. It comes in four separate parts that do not connect in any way other than being held together by the pressure of the item you are trying to support.Impossible to use if not perfectly aligned perpendicularly to both the ground and the supported object. If you are lucky and it is aligned perfectly it will still take at least four hands to hold everything in place when you try to use it.I went ahead and welded everything together in order for it to work better. As an added safety precaution I painted the last 3/4" of threads to indicate the support jack was extended to the max. Otherwise you could keep rotating the jack higher until it comes apart (unsafe). This would work better if there was a stop added to the end of the threads which I could have welded on had I though about it before welding the rest of the jack together.Do I recommend, yes. The prices is good, the materials are sturdy, but you have to be willing to weld it together if you want to use it safely.

Exactly what I needed

I used these floor jacks to add support from the basement to the floor joists area where my turntable setup sits (directly above). With the added support, the floor area stopped being so "bouncy" when I walk up to the turntable to change records (which sometimes can cause the records to skip). I've seen comments that the included metal plates are not thick enough. For my use, they were more than strong enough since I just needed to add support to the floor joists. The floor jacks were easy to use. The screw mechanism worked smoothly and I was able to make fine adjustments to the support amount. I'm glad that I found these at a reasonable price. See pics of the simple project (The studs are perfectly straight! - The cellphone camera lens distortion created the "bent" effect).
