So far I like this rain gauge a lot. It is very easy to read and a bit larger than I expected. I am replacing acrylic rain gauges that I have had in the past, which invariably became yellow and cracked in the Florida sun. This one should fare much better. Some reviewers report difficulty mounting the gauge, which I cannot understand. There are two slotted mounts, one on the gauge itself and one on the spike. They are exactly 6 inches apart, so putting two screws into a post at the correct distance should make it easy to slide the gauge on, including the spike. There is an even easier and better way, though. The spike exactly fits into a 1" schedule 40 PVC pipe, so stick the PVC pipe into the ground wherever is convenient and at whatever height you want, and slip the spike into the pipe.

I bought this rain gauge because the plastic ones I have purchased turned yellow and you couldn't read the gauge. I could only get about 2 years use from the cheaper one. This gauge is silicon and isn't supposed to yellow. It holds two more inches than the plastic gauge I was using, it is easy to read and can be inserted in the ground or hung. So far I am enjoying using it. I would recommend this product.

Every winter, i pull my gauge from its mounting spot - well, most of the time. Eventually, however, the plastic does become embrittled, etc. The markings fade. This silicone gauge is your answer. I now get to measure our winter precip. Yes, i could look it up.....but i need the exact precip for my farm, and just for fun. Just get it! Plus it has a nifty red floaty ring - less strain on the eyes, from a distance.

We tried several gauges that said weather proof. But they were not. They cracked in the intense Texas sun or in quick freezes we experience. This gauge lives up to its claims. The silicon is very weather tolerant, and easy to care for. We also love the little float that allows us to see the accumulation from a distance.

I have had both plastic and glass rain gauges break, especially glass if I forgot to bring them inside in the winter. This one definitely holds up better and washes out easily if needed. The only reason I did not give this 5 stars is because if I use the top mount ring for hanging it up, I do not get accurate measures. Light rain seems to bounce off the top blue rim and not collect any water at all. If I mount it in the ground, I get water inside always when it rains.

This is the best outdoor thermometer that we have purchased.Others have cracked in the elements, but this one is holding up.It has a nice ability to hold a lot of rain water and It was a decent price.We didn't like how it mounted, so my husband made a more secure mount for it.It functions well and the size is perfect to read.

I just received this item and it looks like a keeper. It measures the same amount of rain I receive as another Taylor , not the same style, that I also have. Time will tell but I'm optimistic.

Like how easy to read, install in ground, easy to empty & is sturdy. This is my 4th rain gauge & the best so far. Made a mistake of buying a glass one that broke and one that goes on a fence that doesn’t collect water.
