Q: Anyone know if this would work with a Zipstick joystick? (has 9 pin connector)

If your joystick would normally connect to a standard RS232 connector on your pc then it should work with the adapter. Be aware though that, although the adapter is stated to work with Win XP, I found it wouldn’t. It did work fine with Win 10 though.

Q: Is this ok for an iOptron firmware update?

Bought for use with Trimble GPS 10MHz Disciplined Oscillator in November 2018. Unit output to PC required a serial COM port. The Serial to USB lead was bought to provide an alternative link. Windows XP, 7 and 10 did NOT work with the lead. Fitted a PCI serial port card (providing two COM ports) and that worked perfectly. Cannot comment as to why the lead did not work on three different PCs.
