Michael has dared to teach a complex and abstract topic with long words to very little humans. The idea of presenting unmitigated complexity to children has been sorely missing in our child-proofed world. Can babies listen to jazz? Sure they can! Will they be better off than if only exposed to nursery rhymes? Maybe!This book overcomes the common assumption that you need to understand tangible physics before you can understand the much more intangible electronics. And while it's okay to teach simple stuff first it's also okay not doing so sometimes!The drawings and character names are cute. The descriptions and definitions are true to science. There are goodies for the kid (lights that are on and lights that are off are both happy) and goodies for the parent (voltage and current dividers have strategically placed switches!). The bonding between an engineer or science-inclined parent and its child that this book potentially creates is unheard of.Thanks Michael for writing this original and needed book!!!

The book does a good job of explaining basic concepts of electricity in a fun and simple way. Bought this for our 15 month old and she loves the pictures and the colors, especially of the atoms.

Bought two of each book in the series for my nieces and nephews. Really good idea to have something available to get the kids introduced to scientific concepts early in a fun and no-pressure format. It’s not that they’ll all go into a STEM field as a result, but I feel many STEM subjects are out of reach until quite late in childhood, maybe something like this helps to overcome that.I don’t think it’s written for babies, but I wouldn’t worry too much about that either…seems like something they can grow into and start to understand more and more of the concepts in the book.

Fantastic book. Got it for my friends’ kids. They showed a lot of engagement. Very clear illustrations. 5 stars! Highly recommend.

Pros: Great books for kids with curiosity. I gave these books as Birthday Gifts to my neighbor's kids. They love it. Everytime I go to their house, they show me the book and talk about it like a story.Cons: Wish it was a hard cover. I see that they've already chewed through the cover. :)

This book provides as a great material to get kids to be familiar with the names and concept of electrical engineering. Get them to meet their new abstract friends, Volty and Lumey.

Do kids really need to know about circuits? Absolutely yes! In our modern world, everything has circuits in it! A book like this gives kids a jump start on learning about something that is all around them. A nice thing about this book is that it will grow with them- it doesn't dumb down the concepts, so it's something that could be come back to over and over. Very young kids may only understand the basics, but when they get older they'll learn other things from this same book.

A fun and easy to read book that will keep curious minds coming back again and again!
