Q: If the film is "static non-adhesive" as advertised, then why do the instructions refer to "adhesive side of film" and using an "application solution"?

That description is misleading. I thought the same thing when I was reading the description. The 'adhesive side' of the film is the side of the film that has the peel-away plastic, which is the side of the film that gets stuck to the glass. The application solution is ammonia-free glass cleaner, which costs a dollar for off-brand name at your local grocery store. I also got a squeegee at local grocery store for $4. I love the film! The key to putting it up easy is to saturate the glass with the solution. Don't be conservative when using it. I even put a piece of the film on my glass storm door, left it on for a few hours, took it off and then put the same piece back up just to see if that would work and it did! I'm very pleased with the outcome.

Q: Is this product non toxic?

It does contain toxic chemicals according to the seller. The response received from the seller is below my question. The first time I asked if the film was free of toxins and I received a very friendly but general response saying that it was safe to use. My question below was more specific and received a less friendly but adequate answer. PET (Polyethylene Terephthalate) film is a consideration for those looking for a non-toxic option. Q: Is this product safe to install on dual pane windows?

I have double pane windows argon gas-filled windows and patio doors that I used this on. I have had no issues at all. It worked out great.

Q: What color do I get? Is one of them the most common? Which is recommended?

Depends how dark do you want. With Silver, you can still see outside with a little tint. The black one will block most of the light and will look almost like a dusk environment
