Great for a 1 yo boxer
Second highly rated head harness I have tried. This one is head and shoulders above the other for a few reasons. More nose padding. Correct fit with extra side straps allows for a better fit, providing more mouth movement to pant or drink more easily in hotter weather. The fit also allows the behind the head strap to fit higher toward the back of the head and less on the neck. The extra connection to a harness or collar is a great idea and is a must have in these items. Not only does it make the dog walker more confident of safety when the dog tries to get it off(they all try a little), it allows the overly sensitive owner to loosen the mouth fit even more so they are less concerned about comfort while ensuring they won’t lose the dog if they slip out. And it gave better results. Results: A 75 lb draft horse boxer puppy in a harness was almost instantly transformed into a real pleasure to walk. Very little resistance to wearing it and almost required no corrections. Any corrections were very minimal suggestions, mostly to stop focusing on one spot and continue walking, not for pulling.

Sizing isn't always right
I followed the sizing for my breeds of dogs (one is a boxer/mastiff mix, the other a mini schnauzer). The large one fit the big dog beautifully after it was adjusted. The small one, however, didn't fit the schnauzer so well. He was able to work the nose piece off of his face, even when it was adjusted to it's smallest. As for effectiveness.... Neither dog liked it at first. The big dog caught on pretty quick that as long as she wasn't pulling, it wasn't tight on her beak. Small dog... ugh... he's a little more stubborn... a little more defiant... and a little slower to learn. He'd do good for a bit, then he'd start fighting it and he'd stop abruptly, do a little twist and voila! His beak was free. Several times we did this... throughout the entire (short) walk. I like that the nose piece tightens when they pull then loosens itself when they stop pulling. Cause and effect is a great teaching tool for people AND pets. We're working on it. Still. If you have a dog that's roughly 15 lbs, might be best to go with the XS instead of the small. I didn't measure, and I probably should have. Learn from my mistake. I may still order the XS and just hang on to the S for another dog.

Exactly what a training head collar should be
I've been using head collars on my pups for many years but for a while it was hard to find any on the market that are lightweight and easy to use. This brand looked good in the pictures, but when I actually received it and tried it on my 4 month old lab, it was clearly what I've been looking for. For the uninitiated, there are tags and instructions showing how to put it on. It's readily adjustable, well sewn and has a clip on the nose band which helps prevent those pesky dewclaws from pulling it off while the puppy gets used to it. Thank you so much Coastal Pet Products for filling the void and offering a quality product!

Dog harness holds head unable to pull you
It took awhile for my dog to let me put it on. I suggest that 2 people help to put it until dog gets used to it and the dog can’t back out of it as easy

The determined dog will still pull
I have 2 adult German shepherds. One we've had since he was 8 weeks and one we rescued last year (approx 2 1/2 years old.) The one we rescued was never leash or collar trained had minimal understanding of commands and not crate trained. He WAS housebroken and after a year, a total love bug and we have no regrets. However, he PULLS constantly on walks. After reading the reviews for this head collar, and having had no success with the Gentle Leader head collar, the Gentle Leader harness, smooth choke or prong choke, I had hoped this would be the answer to our prayers. What I like about this collar is it's design. I feel that it is more secure with that extra clip to the dogs regular collar. Even if the dog manages to slip the head collar, he is still connected to the leash and can't take off. I like the way it fits to the head & face (Size 3 for two 75lb GSD's was perfect)and I like the soft felt pad that rests on the nose. This prevents rubbing and bald spots. The dog may not care for a head collar, but there isn't anything about this that I find to be cruel or unfair to the dog. It's fully adjustable so if it's too tight and hurting the dog--you're not using it properly. My older GSD, 4+ years old, walks beautifully with this collar. No pulling, heels right next to my leg and he is only mildly annoyed with the head collar. He'll periodically rub my leg in an attempt to remove it, but I just redirect him to the walk and he's fine. This may be because for about 8 weeks when he was 7 months old, we used a Gentle Leader on him because he was so hard to walk. This head collar is far superior at getting him to walk properly with me than a prong or smooth choke. My rescued GSD? Not so much. He's a puller and he is a DETERMINED puller. I swear that he just braces his neck and shoulders and he GOES. Nothing we've used has curtailed this pulling. He is stubborn and he's strong. So for him, this collar did absolutely no good. Which is why I can only give it 3 stars, because while it is fantastic on my older GSD, is it pretty much useless on my younger dog.For the younger dog, we ended up having to seek professional assistance in walking him and he is back on his old collar and we are using techniques we were taught to improve the walking experience. It's a daily struggle with him because he is determined to have his way each time we walk and each day he needs to "re-learn" walking but once he accepts that this is the way it is, he does wonderful.I don't discount the success others have had with this collar on "problem pullers." However, I would caution someone that each dog has a unique temperment and what works for one (like my older GSD) will not necessarily work for another.

Excellent training tool
I’ve tried a figure of eight headcollar with my large, energetic, adolescent Boxer with limited success. However this headcollar gives better control of the head, as lead attaches under the chin. On this headcollar he walks beautifully and it fits comfortably without moving about too much, as it has a useful clip under the chin to hold it in place.

Fits bully breeds.
Great quality with out paying for a more common brand (halti) purchased for 15week old dogo lab mixes xl fits 17"_24"collar and 7"_9"snout these were alittle big in the neck ,used a zip tye to fold and hold excess neck band cut and filed zip tye so as not to irrate neck.these will see the dogs through their constant growth. Pups took to this way of walking very quikly and has stopped all pulling before it became a habit..

Did not stay on
Bought size xs for my 9lb chihuahua mix. Did not work it wouldn't stay on for more than 5 seconds at a time. Only way to keep it on for 10 seconds was to tighten it so tight she couldn't open her mouth, so I gave up. Too bad because she pulls on the lead. I've heard good things about halties. Maybe it works better for big dogs?
