The Xantrex puts out enough juice to meet my electrical needs but was terribly difficult to install
I purchased the Xantrex 1500 for use on a 34-foot sailboat. My AC electrical needs exceed the capacity of small cigarette lighter plug-in systems, but don't justify the complexity and expense of a higher end marine inverter. The Xantrex puts out enough juice to meet my electrical needs but was terribly difficult to install. The principal reason was that the system had to be completely horizontal with a great deal of open space around the device. It also had to be located as close as possible to the battery bank. Finding the right mounting location that met all these requirements was a real challenge. Other systems may share similar constraints. Instructions are OK, but technical support suffered from some real language challenges. Knowing what I know now, I probably would pursue a different inverter option. Build quality seems good. I cannot speak for the quality of the AC power, but I had no issues with any device hooked to the system.

Unit implied it was for boats, but it did not meet the requirements. Works fine.

It worked great and did not kill the batteries
2nd Xantrex. The 1st one is very reliable. I brewed a pot of coffee with this 1 (750 watts). It worked great and did not kill the batteries.

Excellent works well with all. After trying several cheap inverters ... not worth it.

wattage not correct
Says 1500 watts but will not even power an 800 watt portable icemaker

Not as advertised
This inverter does not have an automatic transfer switch as stated in the description. The only inputs are for the batteries. No mention of the transfer switch in the manual either.

Good product but wrong description and switch connected backwards
1) this is the same inverter that I had before except it has a remote switch2) the remote switch was connected backwards (you have to turn it off to turn it on)3) if you are looking for a 12 volts DC to 120 volts AC, 1500W, this is the right product for you4) if you look at the description on the item page, 'The NEW Freedom SW 24 Vdc inverter/charger', this is a totally different product and the description is misleading
