Love these filters!I only purchase OEM GermGuardian replacement filters, because I find the off-band filters use lower quality materials, and the pre-filters do not catch as many debris, which causes you to have to replace them sooner.However THESE OEM GermGuardian, while the pre-filter is thinner than off brand, they last longer, and catch a lot more hair/dust/fibers.As long as you clean the Pre-Filter once a month, you really do get 6 months out of the actual filter.If you have a cat, this is a MUST!

Easy to install - great price

Bought this for our existing HEPA filter. My boyfriend has very bad allergies. Sometimes he will sneeze 10+ times in a row, and when he sleeps sometimes his throat closes up so it sounds like he is choking. He also has had asthma attacks when around animals he is allergic to, or even just sleeping on a pillow that was touched by the fur of an animal he is allergic to. However, this filter prevents pretty much all of that. We keep it in the corner on his side of the bed and there is a noticeable difference in his breathing When he has a sneeze attack, we turn the filter back on and it goes away in a few minutes. It was really easy to install, with instructions on the filter and inside the casing of the actual machine. Took about 5 minutes total to replace. Be careful, though. The person with allergies should not be the one to change the filter, or at least should wear a mask when doing so. If your allergies are really bad, don't even be in the same room. It's really hard to change the filter without releasing particles into the air. That said, there's really nothing the company can do about that, so I still give this 5 stars. We have the filter on probably on average 12 hours a day, and it lasts about six months to a year.
