My grandson learned some new tricks and continues to use it.

I got two of these little books for Christmas presents and they surprised me with two you yo survival kits, with extra strings, stickers, yo yos, sun glasses and counter weight dice. They kids have been working on learning tricks from YouTube and passing the one yo yo we had back and forth to practice. I can't wait to give them these on Christmas.

This book is very good and has nice illustrations and tips. My main concern is that the tricks are not in order of difficulty (for example picture tricks should be before looping tricks; some of the two hand tricks are easier than some of the more advanced string tricks, etc.) Some of the tricks are not really necessary and could have been other tricks in there (for example, around the world with two hands and walk the dog with two hands are at the end of the book and each take up an entire page. Not only are these easy tricks that have no place at the end of the book, but they are rather unnecessary - wouldn't a simple one or two page note saying "looping tricks can be done with two hands at a time and in various combinations" and then list some examples have been better?). Still, it does have a good number of tricks; learn them all and you'll be way better than 99% of people that have ever picked up a yo-yo (not better than 99% of people who do this as a serious hobby; but general population-wise I mean, since most people who've ever yo-yo'ed can only do the first few tricks in the book).

This book helped me to remember my days playing with a yo-yo. I haven’t played with a yo-yo in at least some 60 years ago. I had forgotten how much fun they are & the dexterity used while playing. Not just for someone young! Great buy!

Yes, the book is small. There isn't a need for it to be a large book and at least you can hold it in one hand while using the yo-yo with the other. I'm guessing that is why it is small. I only rated this 3 stars because it really doesn't do a great job at explaining some of the tricks. The illustrations are not step by step, just the written directions are and they are a little confusing. It would be very helpful to have step by step illustrations, too. I was previewing this for my 8 year old daughter, and I don't think she will understand how to do a lot of the tricks in this book without additional help. They also don't seem to be in any sort of order, and some tricks start out by doing one trick and adding on to it so you have to go through the book and find the trick to start out with. Once I looked up some of the tricks on youtube while following the written directions, it became much clearer. I really recommend first using both resources until you can follow book by itself and you will save yourself a lot of confusion.I feel the need to add that when I wrote the review, most of the reviews were for a yo-yo and not the book. I don't know if this book was originally sold with a yo-yo that was really poor quality or wires were crossed while writing reviews.
