Very superb quality and love it. It's like a micrometer tool my father had from World War II.. I knew I was either gonna buy German made, US-made or Japanese made because of the fine engineering that these cultures produce and the Japanese product was in my price range. Much respect. It's very much like my father's micrometer.

The seller delivered the micrometer exactly on time. The micrometer is definitely on par with the ones I used for years as a machine operator. I did check the measurements against my dial caliper every 200 th of an inch and again against the calibrated ocular micrometer of my microscope. The measurements matched from end to end. I had the opportunity to use other brands micrometers too, but for the quality, accuracy and value, Mitutoyo does give them a stiff competition.

As a student learning machining when my instructor recommended Mitutoyo for measuring tools I decided to get one and he sure wasn't lying. Everything runs really smooth on it and the body feels really well constructed. There is a ratchet stop to make sure you get just the right amount of grip for an accurate measurement and a thumb accessible locking lever.

I have absolutely no need for a micrometer. I bought it along with a dial caliper and other precision measuring instruments to give my kids a chance to learn more about tools, engineering, and precision measurements. I have been very happy with it. Now all I need is a project that requires one!

As a precision micrometer that isn't extremely expensive, I couldn't ask for more. Mine is closer to + .0002 inch off but honestly that's perfectly fine since I can add that in my calculations. Excellent product, fairly well built, and does what it's supposed to do.
