Compared to the EZ Tofu Press
I like simple and easy, so this was not my first choice as it looked like it had a lot of parts and pieces to deal with.I initially went with the EZ Tofu Press, two white teflon(?) plates with long screws and wing nuts to adjust the tension. I thought this would give me more control over the press and be easier to store and clean. So I was wrong. Without any markings, the EZ Tofu Press usually has you overdress the tofu to the point you inadvertently squish it in not great ways. It's really meant to be tightened gradually say 3-5 times over 15-20 minutes to prevent that from happening. It's a bear to pay that much attention to the pressing process. Also, the lack of a drip pan is an issue. They show pictures of the EZ Tofu Press over plates or empty tofu containers and in the real world, what a mess! Also a huge waste of counter space- in real life, doing it this way sucked up a good part of my food prep area. And the storage of that EZ Tofu Press- oh man, what a weird thing to store- it's two flat plates with these super long screws sticking straight out- couldn't find a satisfactory way to place it in my cabinets without it being a space hog. Imagine if you wanted to have two- what a jigsaw puzzle that would be.I know I've buried the lead here, but my second choice press, in real life, turned out to be the best choice. This adjustable press is pleasantly compact and easy to store. I love that you can't over press the tofu, and the two levels of pressure are perfect. There is also no exposed metal spring, and I would dare say the design is actually- elegant.Another bonus is that if you get your tofu blocks from Trader Joes or Whole Foods, their standard sized blocks fit PERFECTLY in this press. I think this dimensional match may be contributing to the block coming out in fairly good shape after pressing because there's nowhere for the tofu to squish out badly and distort. At first, I thought there was not enough clearance for the water to catch in the bottom without rewetting the tofu, but it was totally fine, and the unit has a plastic pour spout to let the water out into the sink even before opening it to pull the pressed tofu out.The cleaning is easy, and the storage is a dream- well compared to that EZ Tofu press contraption. It kind of looked cheap and a kids toy in the photos, but I think its a great kitchen tool that is punching far above its play school looks :)So, if you are the average US Joe or Jane buying your tofu blocks from TJs or WFs, this is an easy no brainer choice. I'm not 100% sure how this would work for tofu blocks purchased from Asian markets, but I'm thinking they would be similarly sized and would work well.

Works great!
Bought in December and since I'm about the only one in my house that eats tofu I haven't used it too much. It is beautiful bamboo and is easy to assemble, use and wash. I use the level feature on my phone to make sure I'm pressing it evenly and it works as intended. I love it (and it works so much better than 2 plates, napkins and a heavy mortar and pestal which is how I was pressing my tofu before I found this)* I had encountered a crack in the bottom piece of my press after about 4 uses and it was promptly replaced! Many thank yous for the replacement!!

Good Tofu Press
I haved used this tofu press often with no major issues. I like that it’s made of bamboo instead of plastic. It does a good job of removing water from a block of tofu. It easily fits a block of tofu inside. The only issue is that a little water sometimes leaks out of the bottom. I simply put a cloth towel under the press. Overall I think it’s a valuable purchase for the price.

It works!
I used it on super firm tofu. It released a lot of water. I baked the BEST marinated rice in an air fryer.I’m a pleased consumer!

Good non-plastic device.
Effective for removing excess water from extra firm tofu.

leaks
Great concept, but bamboo breaks, and maybe it is not safe to treat it to seal it, it'd be great not to have to use plastic. The product works fine as per pressing is concerned, but it leaked out of the tray the first use, received it today, will return ASAP. I will see other options that don't involve more plastics for our planet.

Perfect little press
This press is a little difficult to use, it's hard to get it straight and even but other than that it is wonderful! It doesn't come with cleaning instructions but I assume it's hand wash only.I have made a lot of excellent food with the help of this press! I am very happy with this purchase! EDIT -- 05/20/2025 After 2 months of 2x weekly use the base cracked...I emailed the company and they sent me a brand new replacement for free within a week. I am so impressed with this company and product. 10/10 . I also learned that it is hand wash and you have to oil it with mineral oil. Thank you!!
