EProbably no better than other similar ones, but it works as I expected.
3 week update: It's been solid in performance. It hasn't glitched once. Response is quick when changing.screens, etc. When you start the car, it connects to your phone reliably and very quickly. Apple CarPlay resumes playing when you start the car. If you're connecting through regular Bluetooth instead of CarPlay, to resume playing music, you just need to touch the Bluetooth button and then play button on the screen, which I think is something you have to do in most Factory systems anyway. The only consistent oddity I've found is the equalizer screen loses touch sensitivity after a few touches. Just hit the back button and open The Equalizer screen again. Not a big deal because you'll rarely access this screen after initial setup. I never realized how useless the BMW iDrive is til now. The only thing in the factory system you'll frequently access is the backup camera when you're in reverse. This unit automatically switches to the factory system in reverse for the backup cameras. Then, it switches back to itself when you shift out of reverse.Original review:Prior to this, I tried to install a Road Top brand unit and had sound problems. This PEMP unit had no issues. Both units probably have the exact same software. All that's different are the icons and colors and both have different "themes", really just color changes. I suspect all these units are clones of each other with minor differences. It does everything I expect it to do. Sound quality is no worse than the original sound. It does use the Aux jack for sound. Some people claim this makes it sound worse than going directly through your car's i-drive Bluetooth, but I don't think that's true. It has an actual equalizer, which is an huge improvement over the i-drive's tone setting.Don't expect it to be 100% perfect before you change your settings. In the car's i-drive you have to select Front Aux and change the volume. Some people say to set it to 1. I don't know why. On this unit, if you set to 1, the sound is so low you have to turn up the music, which makes the car's chime noises super loud. I set mine to max.Anywho, I didn't expect much after the Road Top disappointment. So, I got more than I expected.

Seamless CarPlay Upgrade – Looks OEM and Works Perfectly!
I recently installed this Apple CarPlay screen in my 2014 BMW 435i, and I couldn’t be happier with the result. The installation was surprisingly easy—even for someone with limited experience working on car electronics. The instructions were clear, and everything fit perfectly into the existing setup without the need for any major modifications.Once installed, the screen booted right up and connected seamlessly with my iPhone. The interface is smooth, responsive, and looks like it came straight from the factory—very clean and modern. It integrates beautifully with the rest of the car’s interior.Troubleshooting and adjusting settings was also a breeze. I had a couple of questions during setup, but everything was intuitive, and the system is very user-friendly.Now I’ve got full access to navigation, music, messages, and calls, all through a crisp and vibrant display. It works flawlessly and makes driving so much more convenient and enjoyable.Highly recommend this upgrade if you’re looking to modernize your BMW without spending a fortune. Excellent value for the price!

Awesome screen but poor mic
5 Star system but loses a star for poor microphone (I travel a lot and use the hands-free calls a lot). When they say this thing is plug and play they meant it! Overall it took less that an hour to install and half that time was looking for a screw I dropped. The screen is WOW, Bluetooth for me has been flawless!First hiccup was audio was completely distorted but upon closer look at the extra online instructions it mentions connecting their two ground wires together (which literally plug into each other, don’t be scared) and voila the audio was fixed. Now after this, out of the box the audio was still a bit tin-can sounding so went into its equalizer and fiddled with a few settings until the audio has a nice, full bodied sound. That took a good 10-15 minutes of alternating songs to get the right feel. The presets were all a bit off so pick your favorite genre (pop, jazz, vocal, etc) and adjust it to your liking creating the “custom” setting. When using the mic on speaker phone it appears the multi-mics built into the BMW are no longer working and upon closer inspection and a few other reviews, the mic seems to be a pinhole in the edge of the screen. So far call clarity has been awful and frustrating. Played with the mic settings, db gains, etc to no avail. Also there is this odd little hockey puck shaped speaker in the box (no mention of it in the instructions or in the description) so I thought maybe it’s a new Omni-directional mic? Plugged it in and plays the lowest, tin sounding audio you’ve ever heard. Seeems to have zero affect on the mic. So not a clue what this odd little speaker is used for unless to just test the screens audio. Also this was for a 2013 BMW 328i and the apple CarPlay audio would not work so had to run the included cable to the Audio In/Auxiliary jack in the console to correct. I drilled a small hole just in front of the console jack then ran the wire under the e-brake area to guide it to the dashboard so not visible. Super simple once I made up my mind to drill the hole (see pics). All of this is mentioned in a full color instruction sheet included in the box. Also a false positive the BMW radio will play fine but the CarPlay would not. You could see everything just could not hear it. Also they mention setting your Auxiliary to preset number 8. I suggest you follow this step. Once in a while the car will play the radio or thumb drive from the console while CarPlay is running but overriding the CarPlays audio. Another suggestion, the USB has a split USB1 and USB2. If you use a thumb drive for audio in your console just move it to the USB2 cord and it will work inside your new screen instead of the old system. Long pressing the MENU button will take you to you old system and to easily get back to the new system simply tap the touch screen anywhere to get back into it.I really cannot see how I waited so long to do this upgrade but the original BMW screen started delaminating (anti-glare peels off internally) and could not find a way to repair. The new BMW screens were insane and a scrapped car would only rush giving another aged screen. For the money (around $300 when I ordered mine) this screen is awesome. Truly awesome. The oddest feature I didn’t know I would love is a setting to cut the audio off when the car goes into reverse. Almost seems silly but a few seconds of silence while backing up could save someone’s life. Don’t worry that settings turned off by default but good to know it’s in there.AWESOME packaging BTW - looks like it could fall out of a delivery truck and survive just fine! I really wish I had photographed or videoed the unboxing cause it was over the top. PLUS they sent the trim tool to help pop the dash off if needed.

Unreliable. Screen went dark after 4 months!
Stay away from this product. My screen has had an intermittent issue with the brightness for the past month. It worked fine for the first 4 months an now its so dim i can't see anything. It a a major safety issue, as i can't see the reverse camera. I've reached out to their product support team, which are unhelpful. They say its related to my F30 auto lights, which is not true. The product worked fine for the first several months. I'm very disappointed with this purchase, and now have to reinstall my OEM screen
