Cool, compact, fixed blade EDC
This must be the cutest practical tanto knife in the market. Not many fixed blades can fit so comfortably in the pocket and still offer all the utility of an everyday carry. That's mostly thanks to a 9.55cm blade that on a folding knife would need at least an 11cm handle. The handle on the Kyoto I is just 8.7cm so it's about 3cm shorter than an equivalent folding knife. The small handle is a tight fit for a full finger grip with my hands (10cm across the palm) but is perfect for a 3/4 grip with the side of my pinky up against the end of the handle still aiding in fine control. The faux tsukamaki (Japanese handle wrap) pattern on the handle is a nice touch that enhances grip security. The Kyoto I comes with a Secure-Ex sheath but without any loops or belt clips. I suppose that's fine given the price. Retention is good; I haven't been able to shake the knife out of the sheath.Given the Kyoto I's size it would work well as a neck knife or boot knife, but I think I'll add loops or a clip to the sheath for horizontal belt carry. The blade was very sharp but not quite razor sharp out of the box. I've used it for some light cutting and package opening tasks and don't currently see the need to further sharpen at the moment.Overall an interesting, useful, and fun knife that's a great value at the current price (bought at $22.29).

Very nice for a day to day carry.
It's small and compact, which is great as I personally don't like carrying around a bigger blade as it usually draws too much attention from people around you. It's sharp as hell right out the box, which is good because knowing the quality of cold steel metals, you most likely won't have to sharpen this puppy for a while. Because of the length of it, I feel as though it's mainly just a flashier take on a pocket knife; a very beautiful knife nonetheless. For the price it's definitely worth it and I personally, once again, do prefer a fixed blade as I feel they perform a little sturdier in comparison to their flip counterparts. Only con to this is the need to get an additional clip but that's nitpicking. Knife won't let you down.

It's worth $20
Fairly cheap/basic Chinese steel. Decently sharp out of the box. 8Cr14MoV steel will look sharp for a lifetime, and can hold a good edge. Can definitely be used daily and take some abuse, especially for the price. Not sure if it's full-tang, so I wouldn't do any prying with it. But hey, it's a $20 knife, and it looks cool. I'm going to try to get a nice mirror finish on it, and I'll post pics if it turns out.The sheath is 2 piece plastic, with rivets all around. And it snaps in/out nicely. No clip, would need a 3rd party universal clip installed if you want to carry it that way.

The sharpness
The knife is nice and well designed and put together . The only thing that could have been a bit better is the sharpness of the blade . Other than that it's really nice and compact.

After three years of daily use
I purchased this knife on June 8, 2022, and it has been my primary horizontal belt knife ever since. The size and feel are perfect for wearing on the front of my belt with a clip. Even though my gut hangs over when I sit, the handle has never been uncomfortable. This knife quickly became the one I reached for in my EDC drawer because of its ideal shape, size, weight, and texture. After three years of daily use—whether at work, hunting, fishing, or just relaxing—the rubber handle finally began to wear out. It started crumbling at the lanyard hole where I keep a bead attached to a short piece of paracord. Overall, I’d say I got my money’s worth five times over; it’s a fantastic blade! I’m considering putting a wood handle on it and continuing to use it. I highly recommend this knife.

Solid choice
Cool knife. Blade is too long for public carry in my state, but I knew that when I bought it. Its just for my collection. Sturdy, reasonable sharp (not crazy sharp, but sharp enough). Some belt clip would be nice though, but that's what the holes are for ig

Good sharp knife with cool style
Nice tanto style small blade. Very sharp and has a nice neck sheath. The price is right and it's been a useful knife so far.

Best knife for the price
The media could not be loaded. further research on this knife discovers it is made of 8Cr13Mov - a cheap chinese tool steel, but tool steel all the same. Takes a bit more effort to sharpen than your common 440C, or stainless, but also holds an edge longer.I've purchased two of these so far, the first was an "abuse testing" knife, the second I'll be babying. I've thrown the first one a couple hundred times into wood, dirt, corrugated cardboard, and had several misses that had the tip hit directly into asphalt, or bounce off my target and into gravel or across concrete.I have not been kind to it, and it has held up VERY well. Out of the box, the factory edge will shave hair off your arm, and push-cut through paper without needed to slide. After the abuse testing, the tip was very slightly chipped, the blade had a few chipped spots, and it had been dulled. But the amount of abuse it went through before getting to that state was honestly impressive. At least 3x more durable than a 440 knife would be, and still could make decent cuts. Wasn't too bad to resharpen with some diamond stones back to a sharp edge.Love the sheath, it's sturdy and can easily have thread or ribbon weaved across it to attach to your belt or something and give it a nice aesthetic. If you're not convinced it's worth the 20 bucks, you must just prefer a different style of knife.
