An absolute bargain for two excellent and powerful GMRS radios.
Baofeng keeps putting out excellent radios and this model is one of them. I purchased these and they are very easy to program ctss/dcs codes. I tested them and on high power I was able to transmit to a friend 4 miles away in an urban area. The radio quality is excellent, and I love this shade of green. They are pre-programmed and you can turn them on and start talking. You can also talk on repeaters with these as well. I love the size, functionality and ergonomics of this radio as well. Yes they ship out two of these with alot accessories. Easy programming. Fun for the kids and the entire family. These are a great value for the money.

Very Good Radio. Love that it has the repeater function
Very nice radios. I found after doing a bit of reading and understanding the radio it becomes very easy to program and use. Really you only need to be concerned with CTCSS sub frequency / channel. You can use the CTCSS on channels and Repeaters and also on other Frequencies you add on your own. The CTCSS allows you to sub channel frequencies to transmit and receive on repeaters that have this set up and also you can set it up on radio to radio so you can duck other transmissions on the same channel by using a subchannel (CTCSS). Love this feature. Its really the only thing I use. I turn off all the other beeps and blunders and keep it quiet. The range is fantastic on the larger antenna. It's pretty good on the normal antenna too. I get about 2 to 3 miles with it and then on a repeater, depending on the repeater, they will broadcast and receive at various mile radius.I found one at100 miles radius and another at 60 miles radius. Very good stuff especially if you hunt, fish, camp, hike, bike, ride motorcycles, ATV etc... Repeaters will keep you connected outside of 2 miles. I give this set which has 2 radios, antennas and 2 larger antennas, 2 larger capacity batteries, and radio clips. A+ You can't go wrong. They are cheaper and stronger than most GMRS radios that won't got passed 1.2 miles. The build quality is not bad. For Under $50.00 a set You can't really beat it.

Limited to GMRS and 5w | Good basic repeater-capable radio | Great value when on sale
First the reality check: 1) Max output is 5w per Baofeng specs, not 8w advertised, 2) The radio is limited to GMRS channels only, offsets and power settings locked down, and while there are additional configurable memories, you can't transmit above channel 30. 3) This radio is not CHIRP compatible (yet?) and while some have successfully programmed it using the Radioddity GM-30 software, I had no success with it.Now for the pros: This was a great value for two solid, radios and two upgraded antennas (in addition to the two rubber duck antennas) when on sale at $36. They do what I need, which is to provide GMRS communication to supplement my tri-band ham HT. The Abbree AR-771 antennas packaged with the kit I purchased provide additional gain over the rubber duck antennas, and I was able to hit a repeater 12 miles away with them where I wasn't making it with the rubber ducks. Note that the extra antennas are underneath the plastic tray, so don't throw out the box without looking for them. While I couldn't use any programming software, there's really not much that I need to configure for my purposes other than the repeater PL tones and the manual programming menu is good although the user manual is just ok (same for all of the BF radios I've bought).

Good radio as a complete novice.
I'll start off by saying I'm a complete novice when it comes to radios. This radio has been great for me! They're very inexpensive, but seem to perform well.My friend and I were about 5 miles away from each in the hilly area of Ohio and we had no issues speaking with each other.I was using the long antenna and he was using the short one and he said he could hear me fine. I could also hear him well.We got the radios to use to talk with each other while we're in different vehicles camping/off roading so I think they'll do well for us.If you're in the US make sure you or a family member has a license to use a GMRS radio if you plan to transmit on it, you can legally listen on them without a license. This package was easy to use, we just turned them on and they worked, you can select channels and all that, I don't know enough about it other than we were talking on the same channels. It's also got weather channels with is cool and would be handy if you're out in the middle of nowhere without phone service.
