Excellent product as I've come to expect from Brother printers
We just received the printer yesterday and our first impression is very positive. It was set up in about 10 minutes and work seamlessly with my Mac and our iPhones and iPads. The quality of the photo prints are absolutely amazing. I expected less than photo quality and what we got are almost as good as professionally done prints. I will have to buy an 8 x 10 of one of the pictures we printed just for an accurate comparison. One thing I learned is that the latest Mac release Sonoma has a built-in firewall on the local network and we have to allow Safari to use that in order to use the web browser based set up. The browser based set up page is much more complete than the control panel. The Brother app on the phone is not something that we will probably use. I'm not sure exactly what its purpose is, but it's not to set up the printer. The only problem I've seen so far is when I try to print four full resolution iPhone camera pictures on one sheet of paper, the printer seem to reject the request. I think it had to do with how big those images are, but I'm still investigating. By reducing the resolution and saving them as JPEG. They printed just fine.My previous experience with Brother printers is the black-and-white laser that lasted 15 years until it finally had its first minor maintenance issue. I used that as an excuse to go to color and I'm glad we did. This is an excellent product.I'll report again in six months or a year.

Reliable cost effective compact color full duplex printer.
Reliable compact color laser printer. Has good ink life with factory-provided toner. I will try larger capacity toners on the first replacement. Easy to set up for network, WiFi, or direct USB connection. Makes decent color photos on plain paper. I have had no issues jamming with plain paper, heavier paper, or even light card stock. It also prints full duplex (both sides) without manually flipping pages. I purchased in early November to replace a 15-year-old printer. We usit frequently and I am still on factory original toners despite having a daughter who prints pictures weekly and two boys who print papers and work for University projects.

Great Quality, easy to configure. Will continue to buy Brother.
Brother really does make nice printers. Have had a B&W for a long time, excellent quality. This printer the color is sharp, laser quality and I am just thrilled again. Updates in software made this printer very easy to configure and put on my network. Will definitely buy Brother next time as well. ( will never by any inkjet printer again. )

The WORST printer I've ever owned
We got this printer back in January. Having and using a Brother HL3040CN for years which was great until they didn't make cartridges anymore that we could get. We bought this one with high hopes. We use the printer for some color pages & some black & white invoices, but we also print a lot of envelopes. The cartridges that come with the printer were virtually empty. We printed about 60 business envelopes before the Black cartridge ran out and had to replace it. Then without ever printing a color page (except for the first test page to setup the printer) the color cartridges started to run out. Even though we were only printing Black & White the printer locks up until the color cartridge is replaced. Within 2 weeks all 3 color cartridges were empty without being used. Costly to say the least. Also, the printer mangles envelopes. Every envelope comes out with creases down the back of the envelope. There is no way to straighten this out. No adjustments you can make. It also takes forever to get it to start & load an envelope. Then forever to start to print the next envelope. They should go back and look at the design for the HL3040CN so they can design a better printer. All in all, the worst printer we've ever bought & we've had at least 9 different printers in the last 31 years.UPDATE!! We now have had this printer for 10 months. I print about 20 to 30 envelopes a week. My wife printed 1 recipe in color about 2 months ago but now the printer says the Yellow Toner is EMPTY!! The printer shuts down and is unusable. Now I can't use it until I buy another set of color toner cartridges because as what happened the last time the others will show up to be empty also.

easy to set up, good quality
This laser printer is good quality and easy to set up. I gave up on my ink-jet printer after constant head cleaning failed to produce good prints. I've not had this too long, so I can't attest to longevity, but laser with toner should be better than that super-expensive liquid ink that just gums up the print heads.

Works like a champ!
Very pleased with this purchase so far. It's my first Brother printer. I've always had HP or Canon prior. I've had issues with my old one dropping off network, but this one has been a champ for the few months I've been using it. I've not had any error messages. I love being able to print from anywhere in my house!

Great compact printer!
I've had this now for six months and it has worked great! Color is nice, print is crisp, and it is not noisy. I do wish the down drop for front loading was longer and had an extension to hold the paper out, but it is built with a friction grip and holds the paper just fine. The print speed is a bit slower than the HP I had before, but not that much to pay the extra dollars.
