Fantastic games

Well made but wow its really hard. We were 8 people and had to use lots of the clues. Have done some of these before and this was much harder. It became unenjoyable especially for the kids.

Highly recommend this box. It was straightforward, fun, and enjoyable.

Just finished playing this with my kids, and we had a lot of fun until the end. It took over 2 hours, and we did it on two separate nights. by the end, we were too tired to be playing and were like "Just tell us where to find the answer!" Though there are clue and solution cards for when you get too frustrated with a riddle.YOU HAVE TO FOLLOW THE INSTRUCTIONS! It's easy to get spoilers if you're not careful, but if you follow the instructions right from when you open the box, you don't really have to worry. Some of the things could have been a little better labelled or defined (Is this the telescope or is that it?).All in all, we had a good time. The first night we worked on it was really really fun, we loved solving problems together. The 7-year-old didn't contribute much, but the 10-and-up kids did help figure things out.

I had to pick this up after enjoying so many of their other games. Each plays over the course of 1-3 hours and has a lot of well designed puzzles and appreciated story as you go. Think of these as true 'escape rooms in a box' where real effort is made by the designers to make them interesting each time. They're perfect for families with older children, think late middle to high-school aged kids, or couples who love games and want a unique game night. We love this type of game, and the EXIT series is great, specifically.Each game is made of cardboard components to allow easy recycling after play, as these often have components you'll need to cut and mark up as you play. That means you can only play them once, but that's what they're designed for - once you've finished, you'll realize that the enjoyment makes sense for a single play through, but well worth the price. I like to think of them as a 'night out' kind of product, not something you put back on the shelf - which is why it's nice that it almost entirely recyclable/biodegradable.The Magical Academy is no different. The magical potion-theming here is really fun. Definitely recommend!

My family and I (wife, 10 year old, 8 year old) could not figure out half the puzzles. Unclear for the kids and frustrating for the parents.
