Amazing product just 1 con
I recently purchased the Amazon Basics Single Outlet Indoor 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi Smart Plug (4-Pack), and I am genuinely impressed with the value and functionality they offer.Pros:Easy Setup: Setting these up was a breeze! The instructions are straightforward, and within minutes, all four plugs were connected to my Wi-Fi and linked to Alexa. No technical headaches at all.Alexa Integration: If you’re already in the Alexa ecosystem, these plugs are perfect. Voice commands like "Alexa, turn on the lamp" work instantly, and the responsiveness is spot-on.Compact Design: The plugs are compact, so they don’t block adjacent outlets, which is a common issue with other smart plugs. I’ve installed them on power strips and wall outlets with no problem.Affordable 4-Pack: Getting four smart plugs at this price is an absolute steal. It’s perfect if you’re just starting to smarten up your home or need additional plugs for multiple rooms.Reliable Connection: The 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi connection is stable. I haven’t experienced any dropouts, even with all four plugs running simultaneously.ConIt wont work with the university wifi network like eduroam.

Just brilliantly easy to set up
These plugs are brilliant. Use with Alexa hub. They are the simplest smart plug I’ve ever used. So easy to set up. Great value too. I bought eight. Highly recommended.

Fair, now good but width a problem
Not as easy to set up as the original Amazon Smart Plug. For some reason the frustration free setup failed and setting it up manually took several attempts.Unit is wider than a standard plug and may not fit in some dual sockets.Actual width 58.5 mm. It projects 41.2 mm from the power socket.Update: I have now fully configured the plug using a standard ADSL WIFI router with no problems. During configuration your configuration device needs to be within arms length of the plug as the Bluetooth range (only used during configuration) is very limited. Like many IoT products it is very difficult to configure using a cellular WIFI router, although once configured they often work with one - strange. In use the plug is slightly slower to respond that the original Amazon rectangular plug. There is a green LED that indicates output power on/off and the reset/override button is more accessible on the top.I will probably buy more. The advantage is that there is only one cloud interface, third-party devices often use their own cloud that then links to the Amazon cloud - two chances of downtime.Update: 2 of the 3 units were marked Amazon Warehouse. One was obviously a customer return and I never managed to set it up. The other AW works, but has low wi-fi sensitivity. It was not obvious from webpage that warehouse goods were to be supplied. Not very happy. Out of 3 bought, one new one works perfectly, one just about works and the third returned. Amazon can do better than this.UPDATE: I have recently purchased a four pack. These were definitely new and installed easily. These represent very good value for an Alexa cloud item.Another Update:There is a strange feature with these plugs that I have never come across before. Each time you command a change of switch state , OFF - ON or ON - OFF, the plug goes offline for about 2 minutes and then works normally. It looks as if the plug completes the command, reports back success and then does a reset before re-establishing WI-FI connection. The device reports 'offline' during this event. This accounts for the time interval. Why is a mystery, no other IoT device does this.

So simple to set up...perfect!
Cannot praise these plugs enough. They are the simplest of things to set up, just plug in, then ask Alexa to do the rest, she will even rename the plugs for you. Brilliant. I was looking for something to control my lamps...I did buy the bulbs at one stage but they are very difficult to set up. But these basic plugs only work with Alexa, which is precisely what I wanted. I now have only to ask Alexa to turn on my lamps and hey presto, 'tis done. And cheap at the price, considering the alternatives. I'm a very happy bunny.

Good value and super simple setup - at last
There are two types of smart plug for Alexa: Amazon's own and third-party ones. I've had several third-party ones and they work but can be a pain, especially after a power cut or if you get a new router. That's because you have to connect them to your wi-fi through an app that usually asks for all kinds of personal info you don't want to give, and when you need to reset the plug, you have to go through it all again and you probably forgot your password or how to do it.Amazon's own original smart plugs were much better. Easy to set up and easy to to reset. But they were also expensive. Too expensive.Enter the Amazon Basics smart plug. This is both very easy to set up and really good value. Nearly a quarter the price of the old ones. They're also much more compact. My one criticism is the QR codes you need to set them up (you can type in a numerical code too). They're printed on each plug (each code is different) but the printing is too blurry and my phone didn't recognise it as a code. Luckily the code is also printed on a sticker added to the instruction leaflet. Sadly these don't peel off so you can't add them to each plug. And they're all printed too close together and you have to cut them out or fold them so your phone knows which code it's supposed to be scanning. Considering how good everything else is, this part of the process is frustratingly amateurish and badly done. Also worth noting these only work with Alexa, so they're not a universal plug you could one day use with Google or Apple smart home systems.

Basic but work well
Got these to turn the 4 lamps on in our lounge. Can turn them on/off as a group or individually with the Alexa app. Lazy...yes, convenient...yes as a couple of the lamps are not easy to get to. Easy to set up and have worked well for the 6 months we've had them, very happy with the purchase.
